The Storytellers

  • More than 70% of the world's population – 5.7 billion – are oral learners by necessity or by preference.

  • Before writing was developed, cultures passed their traditions, history, identity, and religion through stories, proverbs, poems, songs, and riddles.

  • The ancient practice of orality continues to this day. Oral art forms are spoken, sung or chanted. They are woven into ceremonies, dramas and rites of passage.

  • Storytelling is reaching into communities where the name of Jesus has never been heard.
